Kagadi

The Catholic Church in Kagadi will mark Uganda Martyrs Day on Wednesday from individual churches and parishes instead of gathering at Namugongo, due to the Ebola outbreak.

Speaking at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kagadi, the Episcopal Vicar of Kagadi Vicariate, Monsignor Peter Kaberenge, said the new arrangement is intended to protect worshipers while allowing them to commemorate the Uganda Martyrs through prayer.

He described the martyrs as courageous and faithful servants of God and called on Christians to pray for their intercession so Uganda can overcome Ebola and regain normalcy. He added that prayers offered from local churches are just as meaningful as those made at Namugongo.

Monsignor Kaberenge assured Christians that all celebrations will be conducted in line with Ebola prevention guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. He urged believers to remain calm, stay vigilant, and continue attending church services while observing the required health measures.

He also encouraged Christians not to abandon their faith because of the outbreak but to pray for God’s protection and the country’s recovery from the disease.
