A Pan-Africanist and Chairperson of Team Ensonga, Eric Musana, has called on Ugandans to honor and emulate the country’s national heroes by working towards social and economic transformation.
Speaking as Uganda marked the 37th National Heroes Day celebrations held virtually at the State House Nakasero in Kampala, Musana said the day serves as a reminder for citizens to reflect on the sacrifices made by the heroes who fought for the country’s political, social, and economic freedoms.
Musana noted that just as the heroes of the past struggled to liberate the country, today’s generation must strive to achieve and sustain success at family and community levels.
Musana emphasized that the youth should draw lessons from the country’s liberation heroes and actively fight challenges such as corruption, unemployment, ignorance, and poverty in order to improve household incomes and promote good governance.
According to Musana, while the liberation heroes secured political freedom, the responsibility of the current generation is to pursue social and economic freedom for all Ugandans.
The Ensonga Team leader further urged citizens to protect the gains achieved by the national heroes and contribute to the country’s development in line with this year’s Heroes Day theme.
Musana also encouraged Ugandans to commit themselves to doing good deeds and helping others within their communities.
He called upon the public to embrace President Yoweri Museveni’s wealth creation message as a strategy for combating poverty and improving livelihoods.
