The Assistant Commissioner at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Irene Irumba Mbabazi has urged the public to report any URA staff requesting fees in exchange for services.

Mababazi made the call during a stakeholders’ engagement at HB Hotel in Hoima City, aimed at combating corruption in tax collection.

She announced the establishment of a disciplinary committee dedicated to addressing corruption among URA staff.

Mababazi noted that some employees have already been taken to court for their corrupt practices.

 Sylvia Nalumaga, the Deputy Mayor of Hoima City, emphasized the need for transparency regarding revenue collection and its subsequent use.

She believes that clear accountability is essential in the fight against corruption.

Badru Mugabi, the Hoima Resident City Commissioner, stated that significant progress has been made through tax revenue collections.

He emphasized that combating corruption will further enhance the amount of tax collected.
