
Kagadi
At least ten people have been confirmed dead and nine others hospitalized with severe injuries after being attacked by assailants on Tuesday night in Muzizi A village, Buswaka parish in Kyaterekera Sub-County Kagadi District.
It is reported that members of a newly formed cult GOD HOLLY SPIRIT SON MAN- MAN, attacked individuals, many of whom were family members, using sharp objects. This assault resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Isakara Yokonia 76yrs, Kabuwere Norah 64years,Kabugho Oliver 13, Baluku Fedinand 13yrs, Masika Kabagenyi 3years, Kabugho Anifa 4years, Muhindo Praise 7years and Munyirambe Boniface 41 who had intervened to rescue.
Nine others were admitted to various clinics in Kyaterekera following the attack.
These are Muge Julius 6years, Mukundirwa Elmos 49years, Mbambu Joyce 28years, Nzabara Rogers 27years,Biira Christine 24years and Kyakimwa Zipora 40years. Others are Masereka 6years and Biira Burungi 6years.
Additionally, two suspects, Baguma Obedi (33) and David Munyirambe aka Richard (36), were killed while attempting to attack security forces.
A joint team of police officers, led by Kagadi RDC Lillian Ruteraho and DPC Kagadi SP Kenneth Ampurira, and military personnel responded to the incident.
The Kagadi RDC Lillian Ruteraho dismissed the threats of rebel attacks and that UPDF, police, and the Internal Security Organization (ISO) are actively searching for more culprits as investigations continue.
She is appealing to the public to remain calm and share with security any information that could help in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Some survivors including Jesse Masereka said the deceased suspects Baguma and Munyirambe have been harassing members of the community accusing them of not converting to their cult.
Meanwhile, other residents led by Samuel Ntirenganya said the assailants exited the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church to form their own cult and since their break away, have been forcing residents to convert to their new cult if not get killed.
Residents say the culprits were recently detained for threatening the locals who refuse to join them but were released, they have asked security to make thorough investigations to comb out other extremist remnants from their area.
The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Kagadi hospital mortuary for postmortem examination and after will be returned to their respective homes for burial.
