A 30 year old man has been remanded to Mambugu government prison on charges of rape.
The court presided over by his worship Edward Kayukyi heard that on 20 Oct, 2024 Innocent Niwagaba a resident of Namigisa Lc1 Nyamigisa parish in Burora Sub-County forcefully raped a woman whose names have been withheld for her dignity, also a resident of the same area.
The suspect was not allowed to take plea to the charges, which are capital in nature, and can only be heard before the High Court and was remanded till 29, Nov, 2024.
Meanwhile, the same court also remanded a -28 year- old- man to Mambugu Government Prison on theft charges.
The accused has been identified as Julius Ngabirano a resident of Ruteete west cell, Ruteete Town council in Kagadi District.
Court heard that on the 19th October, 2024 while in Kagadi Town council, Ngabirano stole 300,000 shillings cash, Itel smart phone worth 200,000 shillings, another smart phone worth 300,000, all valued at 800,000 shillings property of Vincent Tumusiime a resident of Kagadi Town Council.
While in the dock, the accused pleaded not guilty which prompted the court to remand him to Mambugu Government Prisons till 13th December, 2024 for further hearing of the case.
The same court, has also ordered a- 37-year- old man to pay Seven hundred eighty thousand shillings (Ugx780.000) in compensation after pleading guilty to charges of malicious damage to property.
The accused is Nathan Twendereye a resident of Kiryanjagi in Kabamba Sub-County,Kagadi district.
Court presided over by His Worship Edward Kayuki heard from prosecution that the accused and others still at large, on 30 August,2024 demolished a semi-permanent house of Wilson Ahebwa of the same area accusing him of theft.
Aligned before court, the accused plead guilty to the charges and Court ordered him to compensate the complainant with 780.000shillings in default faces one year jail.
