Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has yesterday Thursday 31, OCT, 2024 extended condolence and offered financial support of 8.2 million shillings to the relatives of the persons killed in Muzizi A LC1, Kyaterekera Sub-County over religious misunderstandings.

Part of the funds was meant to treat 9 patients that were still admitted in health facilities.

On Tuesday 29th night, two brothers identified as Obed Baguma, 33, and David Munyirambe, 36 stabbed their parents and siblings to death accusing them of declining to convert to their cult known as “God Holy Spirit Son Man Man” .

The deceased are Isakara Yokonia  76yrs, Kabuwere Norah 64years,Kabugho Oliver 13, Baluku Fedinand 13yrs, Masika Kabagenyi 3years, Kabugho Anifa 4years, Muhindo Praise 7years and Munyirambe Boniface 41 who had intervened to rescue.

Seven of the bodies were laid to rest yesterday in Muzizi A Lc1, Kyaterekera Sub-county,One in Kyaterekera town council and two were buried in Ntoroko district.

Addressing the mourners, the Kagadi RDC Lillian Ruteraho lauded security for their swift intervention to save the lives of other residents.

She trashed the allegations that Police released the suspects who had been arrested for disrupting the Seventh Day Adventist church operations in 2022, asserting that the duo was released at the plea of their parents.

The Kagadi Lc5 chairman Ndibwami Yosia asked mourners to have respect for other people’s beliefs, saying everybody has freedom to worship as it’s stipulated in the constitution.

Some members of the bereaved family said the assailants had disassociated themselves from the community till they committed the massacres.

Meanwhile only 7 family members survived the tragic killings.
