The Kagadi District Probation Officer and Head of Social Welfare, Stephen Banakora Kiyaga, has raised concern over the increasing cases of domestic violence in the district, reporting between 5 to 20 cases daily.

Speaking from his office in Kagadi town, Banakora attributed the rising domestic violence to men abandoning their family responsibilities, leading to conflicts within households.

He noted that this situation has severely impacted children, with some mothers resorting to abandoning their children at offices, churches, and other public places.

Regarding child disappearances, Banakora highlighted parental negligence, especially among those who frequent bars at night, as a major contributing factor.

He also pointed out that children with step-parents often face mistreatment.

Banakora urges parents to take full responsibility for their children, ensuring they grow up in a safe and loving environment.

He also advised families to address conflicts amicably and foster harmony within their homes.
