Kagadi
Officials from the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) in Kagadi District have advised residents from distant sub-counties to temporarily hold on traveling to Kagadi town Council for National IDs collection.
This was announced on Friday by Tom Ambrose Musinguzi, the Kagadi district NIRA officer.
He says the extension of national IDs distribution to the sub-counties follows the overwhelming numbers of people turning out to Kagadi town council registration office to collect their national Identity cards.
Musinguzi says they will begin delivering IDs directly to sub-counties starting early May, allowing residents to access the services closer to their homes and avoid unnecessary travel and long queues.
He emphasized that to improve service delivery and reduce congestion, officials will only attend to residents who arrive before 1:00 PM, noting that those who come after that time will not be served and advised those near Kagadi town council headquarters to utilize the one-week period to pick their National Identity cards.
Musinguzi further said the individuals who registered but did not receive any message on their phones are still eligible to collect their National IDs.
He advises applicants who lost their notification messages on phone to come with any document issued to them by NIRA during the registration process to help officials verify their details and ease identification.
However, Musinguzi pointed out that some residents are not adhering to the set guidelines, which is affecting the smooth flow of the distribution process.
In addition, he revealed that there are cases where certain National IDs cannot be easily traced, forcing officials to advise the affected individuals to return the following day for further assistance.
