Kagadi
As Uganda joins the rest of the world to mark International AIDs Day on Sunday December 1,residents in Kagadi district have been called up on to embrace routine HIV testing and counseling in order to combat the increased number of HIV/AIDS infections.
The call has been made by Charles Byaruhanga the coordinator Kagadi District People Living with HIV/AIDS Network (KAGANET) during an exclusive interview with Paradigm FM on Sunday evening.
He advised the public to always go for testing before having any relationship to reduce the HIV infection.
Byaruhanga added that they need to see a free HIV community in Uganda by 2030.
He however said this cannot be achieved unless Ugandans join the fight against the spread of the HIV/AIDS pandemic through undertaking preventive measures like condom use, faithfulness and abstinence.
Byaruhanga also condemned segregation of people living with HIV/AIDS because this could cause stigma to patients.
Byaruhanga further asked patients living positively with HIV/AIDS to always take their antiretroviral (ARVs) drugs in time for a health living.
World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease
Uganda commemorated the World AIDS day in Buyende district under the theme : “Accelerating Interventions to End HIV/AIDS by 2030”.
