Ignatius Besisira, the former Member of Parliament for Greater Buyaga County and Buyaga East constituency in Kagadi District, has passed on
His death was confirmed this afternoon the 12th January, 2025 by close relatives.
Besisira, a resident of Kamata B Cell, Pachwa Town Council in Kagadi District, breathed his last while receiving treatment in one of the yet to be identified hospital in Kampala.
It is reported that Late Besisira has been battling undisclosed illness for quite some time before his death
Speaking to Paradigm FM reporters this evening, Daniel Kisindi and Matia Kisembo, brothers of the deceased, confirmed the passing of Ignatius Besisira.
However, they mentioned that burial arrangements are still being discussed, with meetings being held both at the deceased’s home and in Kampala.

Local leaders remembered Besisira as a unifying figure who played a significant role in fostering harmony, peace, and cooperation in the Greater Kibaale region.
They expressed concerns over the challenges of replacing such a dedicated leader.

The late Besisira was a father to Stephen Twesige Rulekere, the NRM flag bearer for Buyaga East County.
He also served as the former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kamwenge, the former Speaker of the Kibaale District Council, and a parliamentary commissioner for finance, among other notable roles.
