The Kagadi grade one Magistrate’s court presided over by his worship Edward Kayuki on 27th January, 2026 remanded two men on three counts of assault, Aggravated Robbery and Malicious damage to property.

The accused include Leonard Twesige aka Maswizi 38years old, driver and chairperson Mabaale stage and Mugisa Godfrey 39years resident of Kisankwa village in Kinyarugonjo Sub County and others still at large.

Court heard that the group committed the offences on 15 Jan,2026, on the polling day for parliamentary and presidential elections.

Prosecution told court that the suspects armed with Pangas, Knives, Hummers, sticks, iron bars and stones while in Kahunde village in Isunga Sub-County attacked and assaulted three victims and left them with severe harm.

The victims are Tibyaata Muhumuza,Godfrey Musoke and Patrick Mpoza all residents of Kyanaisoke Sub-County. These also lost their phones, money in cash worth Ugx400,000 and other valuable items to the attackers.

The suspects Leonard Twesige and Godfrey Mugisa also vandalised the vehicle Reg.No. UAU815T property of Muhumuza Tibyaata.

While in the dock, the suspects were remanded to Mambugu government prison till February 19th for assault and causing malicious damage to property.

On the third case of aggravated robbery, the suspects were not allowed to take plea, and instead sent to remand as the charges against them are capital in nature and can only be tried by the High Court.

The magistrate adjourned the case to 19th February,2026 when the suspects will re-appear for further mention of their cases.

On the polling day of 15th January,2026,the accused persons and agents of Buyaga East MP elect Steven Twesige Rurekere,intercepted the vehicle of Tibyata Muhumuza,the chief campaign manager of MP Eric Musana, at Isunga Hakiyembe in Isunga Sub-County, along Isunga-Kyanaisoke-Kabamba road, forced him out of the car and severely assaulted him.

Security is also investigating cases of violence allegedly committed by the team during the recent general elections.
