The residents of Nyakarongo Sub-County in Kagadi district have been rocked up with shock after recovering the body of a 50-year old woman lying lifeless in a pool of local fermented sugarcane alcohol locally known as “Omunumi”.
The deceased has been identified as Jackline Hope a resident of Kataremwa B in Nyakarongo Sub-County Kagadi district.
The Kataremwa B Lc1 chairperson Paul Byaruhanga said that the deceased went missing from her home on Monday night until Tuesday evening when her body was recovered floating in the pool of alcohol after a search mounted by residents in collaboration with local leaders throughout the day.
Byaruhanga said her drowning in a pool of alcohol and sudden death has surprised many since she has been known for not taking alcohol.

Nyakarongo Sub-County police visited the scene with a doctor, carried out postmortem and allowed burial arrangements to proceed.
