Residents of Kiruhura LC1 in Kabamba Sub-County, Kagadi District, are in shock following the discovery of the body of a 25-year-old woman who was allegedly killed by her husband.
The deceased has been identified as Agnes Nahurira, a resident of Kiruhura LC1, Nyakasozi Parish, Kabamba Sub-County.
The suspect, identified only as Mwebesa, the husband to the deceased and a resident of Mubende District, is currently on the run.
According to Musinguzi Lameck, the brother to the deceased, Agnes returned from a church service on Sunday evening and went to a garden to harvest beans for cooking before she was allegedly attacked.
It is alleged that the husband attacked her in the garden and hacked her to death with a panga following a domestic misunderstanding.
Musinguzi says the couple had been experiencing domestic conflicts, adding that the deceased had recently returned to her parents’ home before the husband allegedly followed her and attacked her.
Her body was discovered this morning by residents who alerted authorities. Police later retrieved the body and took it for postmortem examination.
Kiruhura LC1 Chairperson Ssemajeri James has called on residents to cooperate with police by providing information that could help in the arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile, Kabamba Sub-County LC3 Chairperson Augustine Kacimbiri has condemned the incident and urged residents to resolve domestic conflicts peacefully.
By press time, police from Kagadi Central Police Station and Kabamba Police had visited the scene, as investigations and the search for the suspect continued.
