Kagadi

The Kagadi District Sports Officer, John Mugume, has called on schools to consistently promote sports as a way of shaping learners’ future success.

He made the remarks on Friday while presiding over as chief guest at celebrations held at Kitegwa Community Secondary school in Ruteete town council, Kagadi distrct.

The school was celebrating victory in the recent Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSA) games where the school’s Girls football team finished second in the district tournament also posting a remarkable performance at regional competitions held in Masindi municipality.

All participants on the school team received medals and certificates from the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSA) in recognition of their efforts in raising the district’s sports profile.

At the ceremony new students in Senior One and Five classes have been welcomed to the school.

Mugume emphasized the importance of teamwork and encouraged students who are not yet part of school teams to actively participate in sports.

He highlighted the health benefits and the role of sports in keeping learners active and disciplined.

Rev. Fr. Patrick Mugisa the parish priest of St.Peter and Paul Ruteete parish also urged all students to participate in school sports programs, noting the wide-ranging benefits of sportsmanship, including discipline, unity, and personal growth.

Meanwhile, the head teacher of Kitegwe Community Secondary School, Mukiza Emmanuel Ruvende, commended the chief guest and all students who participated in the school teams.

He noted that nurturing talent is essential in shaping responsible and productive citizens.

Mukiza further highlighted the school’s commitment to sports development, pointing out that Kitegwe Senior Secondary School has full-time coaches and structured sports programs that have helped elevate the district’s sports standards.
