Kakumiro
Kakumiro Police have arrested John Kyamanywa, the Kikwaya Sub County Chairperson, on allegations of corruption.
The security department initiated investigations to apprehend those involved in corruption following public outcry over the selling of jobs in Kakumiro District.
According to Emmy Tutamurugaho, the Acting Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kakumiro, the findings indicate that Kyamanywa has been a significant player in the district’s corruption scandals.
Tutamurugaho says RDC’s office is collaborating closely with the police to ensure that all corrupt officials in the district face the full force of the law.
He adds that they are also targeting another prominent individual involved in similar corruption scandals.
The acting deputy RDC, Tutamurugaho , stresses that security forces are committed to eradicating corruption in the district and urges victims to come forward with any evidence that might lead to the arrest of offenders.
He also advised Ugandans to fight corruption at all levels if the country is to achieve a corruption-free society.
