Kagadi

The Kagadi town council clerk John Isingoma has urged the traders to comply with taxes on signposts and billboards as the town authorities aim to boost local revenue collections.

He made the appeal in an interview with Paradigm FM at the town council offices on Thursday evening.

Isingoma says this compliance directive is part of broader efforts to formalize advertising in urban centers, though it has met with resistance from business owners who describe fees as exorbitant and exploitative.

He said the tax on sign posts and billboards was introduced to enhance revenue collections and generate funds for improving service delivery in the town.

Isingoma commends the traders who have complied, noting that the tax was introduced through the right procedures and contracted by Matia Mugenyi.

Meanwhile Isingoma has further urged the business community to comply with a nationwide restoration of trade order campaign, which aims to clear illegal vendors from streets, walkways, and road reserves to restore order, safety, and hygiene in urban centers.

He has urged landlords to lay pavers in the front yards of their commercial buildings and paint their houses to beautify the town.
