Kagadi
Schools in Kagadi District have recorded a low turn-up of learners as schools reopened for the third term, September 14th, 2026.
A mini-survey conducted by Paradigm FM reporters in several government-aided and private schools found that many learners had not yet returned, although most teachers had reported for duty and were ready to begin lessons.
Kagadi Parents Primary School recorded the lowest attendance among the schools visited, with only 30 percent of learners present.
London College Secondary School recorded 50 percent attendance, Kagadi Secondary School 63 percent, Destiny Primary School 50 percent, Kagadi Central Nursery and Primary School 50 percent, and Kagadi Peoples 60 percent.
Kagadi Muslim Primary School and Kids Light Nursery and Primary School each recorded 40 percent attendance, while Kagadi Model Primary School, Agape Learning Centre and Bunyoro Secondary School each stood at 50 percent.
Good Hope Foundation Schools in Muhooro recorded 62 percent attendance, St. Adolf Tibeyarirwa Secondary School, Muhooro, 60 percent, and Kings City Nursery and Primary School in Mpeefu 60 percent.
Trust Way Schools in Muhooro recorded 50 percent, while Muhooro Muslim Primary School registered the lowest attendance in the survey at just 25 percent.
In most of the schools visited, the number of teachers who had reported was significantly higher than that of learners.
School heads have called on parents and guardians to ensure that their children return to school, saying lessons have already started.
They have also urged learners, parents and teachers to take the third term seriously, noting that it is an important period for completing the syllabus, assessment and academic promotion.

The Kagadi District Inspector of Schools, Omukwenda Alinda, said only about 20 percent of learners had reported, compared to 90 percent of teachers.
Alinda said although low learner turnout is common at the beginning of a school term, this term’s attendance is worse than usual.
He has called on parents, parish chiefs and Local Council One leaders to mobilize learners and ensure they return to school.
Alinda also urged parents to ensure that learners in candidate classes attend school regularly.
Meanwhile, Kagadi District LCV Vice Chairperson John Alibankoha said a recent survey found some children working in gardens despite the reopening of schools.
Alibankoha has urged parents to send their children back to school and ensure they remain focused on their education.
He has also called on headteachers of government schools not to send learners home over school fees or other money-related issues, saying government education is free.
