The Kagadi Resident District Commissioner, Caroline Nanshemeza, has urged residents to take part in the National Cleaning Day held on the last Saturday of every month.
The government launched the monthly cleaning program on July. Under the initiative, every last Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. is set aside for community cleaning to improve sanitation, public health, and encourage community service.
Speaking to Paradigm FM at her office in Kagadi Town, Nanshemeza said some residents are still ignoring the exercise.
She warns that anyone who fails to participate could face arrest, adding that police and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces will help enforce the program.
Nanshemeza called on all residents to join the monthly cleaning exercise, saying it is important for keeping communities clean and healthy.
