Kagadi district has received a consignment of 1000 hand hoes from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), aimed at supporting local farmers and boosting agricultural production.
The consignment of the hoes was delivered on Friday by the officials from the ministry of Bunyoro affairs at the district headquarters in Kagadi town council, Kagadi district.
Receiving the hoes, the Kagadi RDC Caroline Nanshemeza expressed her gratitude to the government of Uganda for the donation and for her swift intervention to fight poverty through agriculture.
She says arrangements of distributing the hand hoes to the beneficiaries have begun and beneficiaries will be invited soon to pick the farm tools.
Nanshemeza says the distribution of the hoes will be strictly monitored to ensure they reach the intended beneficiaries and are not misused.
The Kagadi district Lc5 chairman Yosia Ndibwami says the received hoes will boost agriculture productivity and household incomes.
Kagadi district is predominantly agricultural, with more than 80 percent of its population depending on farming for their livelihood.
