Kagadi

Kagadi district council convened for an extraordinary council meeting to pay tribute to late John Baptist Ssentoogo, former district councillor for greater Kiryanga subcounty and former LCV aspirant Kagadi district. 

The session was on Saturday chaired by Magezi Muwonge the district speaker held at Kiryanga subcounty headquarters. 

During the session, councillors approved naming Kijagi-Kiduma-Kitemba road after the late, name a street in Pachwa town council after and name a laboratory block at St Catherine SS Kicucura after him.

According to Peter Ziraba who moved the motion, the approval is a recognition for the late’s contribution in the area. 

Yosia Ndibwami the district chairman eulogised the late as conflict free, team player and peace-loving citizen.

George William Bizibu, former speaker greater Kibaale also the chief mourner described the late as peace builder, corruption free and distinguished leader.

From council, the mourners thronged the deceased’s home for a befitting send-off of the fallen politician at his ancestral home in Kijagi trading centre in Kicucura subcounty.

Late John Baptist Ssentoogo served as the district councillor representing Kiryanga Sub-County from 2001 to 2016 and chairperson Kagadi district land board.

In 2026 elections, Ssentoogo also contested for the Kagadi district LC5 seat in the NRM primaries and lost to Steven Byaruhanga Mfashingabo.

Late Ssentoogo John Baptist-71 years, succumbed to Intestinal cancer at Uganda Cancer Institute Mulago on Thursday 23rd April, this week and is survived by seven children.
