Kagadi

Kagadi district local government has approved a supplementary budget of Two billion, One hundred fifty seven million, nine hundred thirty six thousand and seven hundred shillings (2,157,936,700UGX) for enhancement of staff salaries.

The council sitting that was chaired by deputy speaker Amos Ssebuliba was held on 26th Feb 2025 at URDT Multi-purpose hall in Kagadi town council Kagadi district.

The motion was presented to the council by Magezi Jamada Francis, the secretary for finance also the male councilor for Kabamba Sub-County.

Magezi says the funds will facilitate the enhancement of salaries for staff in the education, health, production and administration sectors.

A breakdown of the allocations includes, shs 314,477,304M for enhanced salaries of health workers , 1,389,415,312M shs for payment of wages in administration department, 161,462,036M, for science head teachers’ salaries and 292,482,048M shillings for production staff.

The council session also approved a supplementary budget of 7.1M shillings from the ministry of Agriculture that will facilitate the vaccination of livestock against foot and mouth disease.

During the council sitting, the Kagadi CAO Epodoi Pauline urged the district engineering and health departments to increase access to safe water, and improve sanitation and hygiene standards on the shores of Lake Albert in the areas of Ndaiga Sub-County.

Meanwhile, the chairperson for finance, works and administration Andrew Mbusa represented by Vanansio Byaruhanga, the councilor for Kanyabebe Sub-County moved a motion to create other sources of revenue, suggesting tax collections on water transport services, trucks carrying sugar canes, tree logs, land surveying and letters of administration.

He says the district will offer tenders and successful companies will collect revenue on behalf of the district.
