Jane Goodall Institute Uganda in partnership with Kagadi district local government have launched a climate change mitigation program dubbed “integrated mechanisms for protection and adoption to climate threats’’.
The project that will operate in Kagadi and Kikuube districts was launched on Tuesday Feb 2025 at Seyaya Courts in Nankurabye Kagadi town council and was graced by the officials from the ministry of water and environment and Kagadi district local government leaders.
Dr. Apell Peter programs director at Jane Goodall Institute Uganda says in collaboration with the government of Uganda and Austrian government, they aim to address effects of climate change such as un reliable rain fall, poor crop harvests, encroachment on wetlands, famine and to support the livelihoods of communities affected by climate change.
He further says the other project objectives is to support communities staying in the River Nkusi catchment area from side effects of climate change as well as protecting the natural resources from destruction.

At the event, the Kagadi RDC Lillian Ruteraho called upon government to enhance environmental conservation campaign without sparing any one, including the so called the untouchables.
He commended Jane Goodall Institute Uganda for the initiative of conserving the environment.

Dr. Emmanuel Guma from the Ministry of water and environment explains that during the project implementation process, they will form structures for sensitizing and mobilizing communities staying near River Nkusi catchment areas to embrace the conservation program.
