A couple from Kyaterekera town council in Kagadi district is appealing for support following the birth of 7and a half month preterm triplets amid severe financial hardship.
The two baby girls and a boy were born on 11th march 2026 through normal birth at Kagadi government general hospital to Robert Asiimwe aged 29 and her wife Jane Atuhaire 24 years, residents of Kyaterekera town council in Kagadi district.
Atuhaire first delivered the first child at Kyaterekera Health Center (iii) in Kyaterekera town council before she was referred to Kagadi hospital where she was helped by the medics to deliver other two children.
The delivery marked the couple’s third childbirth and increased their family size to five children.
Both the mother and the new-borns are in stable condition and responding well to postnatal care. However, the parents say their joy has been mixed with anxiety due to the overwhelming responsibility of caring for three newborns at the same time.
Speaking to the media , the mother described the birth as a blessing from God but noted that their difficult economic situation presents a major challenge.
She revealed that they lack essential items such as food, clothing, bedding, diapers and other baby-care supplies.
The father Robert Asiimwe also expressed concern about meeting medical-related needs, noting that triplets require close and consistent medical attention during their early stages of life.
The family has therefore appealed to local leaders, religious institutions, well-wishers and members of the general public for support to help them care for the triplets and the rest of the family.
Those willing to offer assistance can contact the parents on 0780158946 in the names of Asiimwe Robert.
Meanwhile, Kyoheirwe Patricia, Senior Midwifery Officer at Kagadi General Hospital praised the babies’ progress and urged expectant mothers to give birth at hospitals for proper care. She says the hospital staffs are doing a fantastic job caring for the triplets.
