Christians have been urged to shun practices that distract them from fulfilling their family responsibilities and their commitment to God.
The call was made on Sunday by the Archdeacon of Katikengeye Archdeaconry Rev. Capt. Wilson Atuhiire, during a preaching programme on Paradigm FM.
Capt. Atuhiire said many family heads spend excessive time and resources on useless activities such as sports betting, alcohol consumption, politics, drug abuse and witchcraft at the expense of their families.
He adds that some Christians have also abandoned church services because they are pre-occupied with worldly activities.
Capt. Atuhiire has urged Christians to return to God, seek salvation and live according to Christian teachings in order to inherit eternal life.
He has further called on women to respect their husbands, saying mutual respect is key to promoting harmony and building stable families.
Meanwhile, Capt. Atuhiire has cautioned Christians against taking multiple loans and investing the borrowed money in unproductive ventures, warning that irresponsible borrowing can also distract them from their faith and family responsibilities.
He advised Christians to avoid spending borrowed money on luxuries, including expensive clothes, as the festive season approaches.
