As Uganda prepares for the 2025-2026 elections, Bishop Jacob Ateirweho of Bunyoro Kitara diocese has urged politicians and their supporters to campaign in a spirit of peace, trust and respect.

The prelate made the call this afternoon at Mabale COU parish where he also confirmed 59 Christians into the Anglican faith.

Bishop Ateirweho warned political leaders against using abusive language and promoting violence, stating that such actions could destabilize the country and divide communities.

Bishop Ateirweho urged politicians to run-issue based campaigns that address people’s needs and aspirations rather than engaging in personal attacks and hostility. He emphasized that leadership is about service and unity, rather than confrontation and hatred, maintaining that leadership comes from God.
