Kagadi
Adrine Tibaleka has been elected unopposed as the NRM flag bearer for Kagadi District Women Council Chairperson.
Tibaleka was declared winner after her main challenger, Kabeni Stella Bisoborwa, withdrew from the race, citing concerns over possible irregularities in the NRM party primaries.
The elections were held on Friday at JW Kate Hotel in Kagadi Town Council and were presided over by NRM elections officer Patrick Mbaiima.
Several candidates were declared unopposed following a consensus among party members.
They include Florence Mbabazi, Secretary for Finance, and Alinaitwe Fatuma, Secretary for Publicity.
For the Vice Chairperson position, Kugonza Florence won with 15 votes against Byabusa Oliver, who polled 12 votes.
Kagadi District Woman Member of Parliament Naziiwa Margaret Rujumba automatically becomes the General Secretary of the District Women Council.
Mbaiima commended party members for participating peacefully and described the election as free and fair.
He urged members to remain united and support the NRM flag bearers ahead of the general elections scheduled for August 28, 2026.
Naziiwa Margaret Rujumba has called for unity and teamwork to promote development in the district.
The newly elected chairperson, Adrine Tibaleka, also thanked women across Kagadi for their support.
She pledged to serve all women without discrimination and support them through income-generating projects, including poultry and piggery.
The Women Council general elections will be held on August 28, 2026.
