Investigations are underway into allegations of land grabbing in Kasokero Ward, Kyenzige Town Council in Kagadi District.
The allegations were raised during a community meeting in Kasokero Cell, where residents accused a group allegedly led by Kasokero Ward LC2 Chairperson Kyeyune Silvest of illegally acquiring their land.
The residents called for a thorough investigation and urged local authorities to protect their land rights.
Speaking during the meeting, Kyenzige Town Council District Councillor Ramathan Muhamudu urged residents to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands as leaders work to resolve the dispute.
Meanwhile, Kyenzige Town Council Gombolola Internal Security Officer Ategeka Moses urged LC1 chairpersons to properly use their official stamps and keep accurate records when handling community matters.
Ategeka also called on local leaders to involve residents in decisions concerning land and other community resources.
