The Buyaga East Member of Parliament Eric Musana has condoled with victims and families who lost their members in the devastating drowning incident on River Nguse on Tuesday evening, which left over 20 people feared dead.
The passengers all residents of Kyaleni cell in Paacwa town council were reportedly returning home from work in Kikuube District when the tragedy happened as they attempted to cross the river.
Eight people manged to survive and three bodies have been recovered by the police rescue teams.
Speaking to Paradigm FM on Thursday, MP Musana says has been coordinating with the top security offices and the office of the prime minister to scale up the rescue efforts and provide relief aid to the victims and the affected families.
He says tomorrow-Friday, prime minister Robinah Nabbanja will visit the district to assess the extent of the disaster and start arrangements for supporting the affected families.
MP Musana has called on residents to be cautious when traveling on water to protect their lives.
