Kagadi

The Kagadi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Caroline Nanshemeza has issued a strong warning against the illegal sale, misuse, and distribution of government-provided mosquito nets, threatening arrest and prosecution for perpetrators.

On Saturday morning, Kagadi district received a consignment of Two hundred ninety-eight thousand, nine hundred (298,900) treated mosquito nets from the ministry of health, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to the fight against malaria.

Later in the day, the nets were distributed to the sub-counties for storage awaiting distribution to the residents.

However on Saturday evening, RDC Nanshemeza said was receiving complaints from the communities that some sub-county leaders had started arrangements of distribution of the nets before receiving clear guidance and authorisation from the top district leadership.

She says the distribution exercise will begin after the district stakeholders’ planning meeting scheduled Monday 27th April, and thereafter they will capture data of the household beneficiaries.

Nanshemeza urges Sub-County chiefs and other stakeholders to ensure safe storage of the nets and deploy security personnel at every store to guard against theft.
