Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has denied leasing another part of Bugoma Central Forest in Hoima District to an Indian investor for 50 years.
Recently, Bunyoro Kitara kingdom officials led by the Lands Officer, Lewis Ruyonga, who accompanied the Indian investor inspected the land in Zorobi Parish in Kabale Sub-County Hoima district, part of the Bugoma Central Forest Reserve.
The matter has unsettled residents, who are concerned about the possibility of being dispossessed of their land in the area.
During a live interview with Paradigm FM on Monday morning, Franklyn Kyomugisa the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom communications officer, refuted the allegation and urges everyone to treat it with the contempt it deserves.
He called upon any member of the public that could be having information regarding the alleged leasing of the forest land to share it with the kingdom administration to facilitate investigation into the matter.
Kyomugisa asserts that Bunyoro Kitara kingdom administration on Friday last week, sent the chief administrative secretary Alex Katusabe to engage with the local authorities of Kabale Sub-County where these falsehoods were being propagated by one Twegonze, claiming to be a kingdom official, but not.
He however said the kingdom has begun efforts to reclaim all kingdom land that had been leased to the Indian investors by the old administration.
