Students from Kagadi District studying at various universities across Uganda have launched an association titled, Kagadi District University Students Association (KDUSA) aimed at fostering unity, networking, and development opportunities among students of university students of Kagadi district.

The association was officially launched on Saturday at People Hope Hotel in Kagadi Town Council.

While officiating at the launch, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Kagadi District, Jeremy Namanya, applauded the students for forming an association that will help them in various aspects of life, including building connections that can lead to employment opportunities.

Namanya encouraged the students to start working immediately towards achieving the association’s objectives and urged them not to give up on their vision. He called upon members to mobilize more students from the district to join the association.

He further advised the students to establish a clear vision for the association and begin saving collectively to ensure its growth and sustainability. According to Namanya, starting with the little resources available and operating smartly will contribute greatly to the success of the association.

Namaya cautioned students against diseases and unhealthy lifestyles, urging them to prioritize their health and advising young women to be particularly careful and responsible.

Speaking at the launch, the Kagadi District Youth Chairperson, Alinda Corines, said the formation of the association presents a great opportunity for students to achieve meaningful development.

Corines encouraged students to embrace hard work and engage in income-generating projects while studying so that they can support themselves and ease the challenges associated with university life.

He also urged them to be ambassadors of their communities by reporting issues affecting residents and promoting integrity, discipline, and togetherness among members.

Meanwhile, the President of KDUSA, Tusingwire Busobozi, said the association was formed to bring together students from different universities and create a platform for networking, mentorship, and addressing challenges affecting students.

Busobozi thanked fellow students, invited guests, and all stakeholders who attended the launch for supporting the initiative.

He called upon all university students from Kagadi District who have not yet joined the association to become members and contribute towards its growth and success.
