It was a moment of somber mood and grief as prominent elder and retired lay reader in the church of Uganda Mzee Wilberforce Tumwesigye was laid to rest in Nyakashema A Cell, Nyakashema ward, in Ruteete town council Kagadi district.

The Kagadi district Chief Administrative Officer Epodoi Pauline Opio who was the chief mourner and represented by her deputy Vincent Kyaligonza lauded Late Wilberforce for the legacy of good parenting and educating his children.

He asked mourners to prioritise education of their children for the transformation of their communities and development of the country.

The Buyaga East Member of Parliament Eric Musana cautioned parents against shying from their parental responsibilities in a bid to nurture children into responsible future citizens.

Musana asked parents not to abdicate their parental roles so as to ensure their children grow into citizens of high reputation and integrity. He says the current generation of parents have abandoned their parental roles and this has increased immorality in communities.

He praised late Wilberforce for nurturing his children in church and educating them asking other residents to emulate his legacy.

John Turyatemba, the Kyanaisoke Sub-County chief who delivered the family speech eulogised their late father as a good, peaceful and caring parent.

The family thanked their father for nurturing them in church and teaching them good morals.

Late Wilberforce Tumwesigye died peacefully at his home on Sunday morning at 89 years of age and is survived by a widow Adrine Tumwesigye, Eight children and grandchildren.

The burial ceremony was graced by religious leaders, politicians, civil servants, Bunyoro Kitara kingdom representatives, among others.
