Paradigm FM Radio has launched the “My Village Manifesto” programme, a platform bringing together candidates contesting for Local Council One (LC1) chairperson positions in Kagadi Town Council ahead of the July 28 elections.
The programme was launched on Monday 20th at the Paradigm FM Gardens in Kagadi Town Council, Kagadi District.
The initiative began with candidates from Kagadi Town Council and will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, in Mpeefuya Sande Town Council before extending to other parts of Kagadi District until the campaign period ends on July 27.
Speaking at the launch, the Kagadi Town Council Election Supervisor, Swaibu Kagadisa, urged candidates to conduct peaceful campaigns by avoiding abusive and divisive language.
During the event, candidates from the different villages outlined their campaign pledges, promising to improve service delivery in education, healthcare, security, accountability for village funds, and the proper use of official village stamps.
Independent candidate for Kagadi Taxi Park LC1 chairperson, Vincent Kusiima, pledged to promote accountable leadership, fight corruption, and improve service delivery.
Kusiima also promised to establish a functional executive committee to strengthen democratic leadership at the grassroots level.
Other candidates pledged to improve sanitation and healthcare, strengthen security, increase access to Parish Development Model (PDM) funds, expand electricity connections, and improve access to safe and clean water.
They also committed to advocating for the creation of new administrative units in the larger villages to bring services such as education, security, and other government programmes closer to the people.
