The Buyaga East MP Eric Musana has urged parents to educate the girl-children so that they are empowered on how to respond to sexual and gender-based violence.
The legislator made the call on Monday 20th Jan,2025 at the Acaali female football tournament 2024 second edition hosted at Kinyakairu Primary school playground in Kabamba Sub-County.
At the ceremony, over 500 expectant mothers received mama kits from MP Musana to facilitate safe deliveries.
Musana said the initiative of donating mama kits to pregnant mothers supplements government efforts of promoting safe deliveries in health facilities.
The legislator also urged pregnant mothers to attend all four recommended antenatal visits to help reduce the number of preterm births.
He urged husbands to encourage and support pregnant mothers to attend timely antenatal care, have good nutrition, and to deliver from health facilities.
The legislator further asked parents to instill values and morals in their children, emphasizing the care and education of the girl child.
