Local FM radio stations in Kagadi district have been warned against promoting violence and hate speech in their broadcasts ahead of the lower local government NRM primaries scheduled for Thursday 14th Aug, 2025.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party returns to the polls on Thursday this week to vote flag bearers for the Sub-County Local council three chairpersons, councilors and representatives for the special interests groups.

In a meeting held on Thursday at the RDC’s office with the managers of the three local FM radio stations; Paradigm FM, KBS and KKCR, Caroline Nanshemeza, the RDC Kagadi  warned broadcasters against promoting violence, saying that perpetrators will be arrested and criminal cases opened against them individually.

She said that the radio stations are being closely monitored by the government security agencies to prevent them from broadcasting inflammatory statements that could lead to violence in the August 14th elections.

Nanshemeza emphasized that all broadcasters should promote peace, unity and socio-economic transformation in their programs opposed to violence.

Nanshemeza also urged all registrars deployed in all the 35 administrative units to avoid taking bribes from candidates as this would compromise their neutrality stand and the election results.

She warned that any registrar that will facilitate vote rigging will be arrested and face the law accordingly.
