Kagadi
Kagadi District Council has approved a proposal to upgrade six district roads to national roads.
The decision was made during a council session chaired by Speaker Vincent Semuga held at URDT Center for reflection l in Kagadi town council.
The motion was presented by the Secretary for Works and Technical Services, Joash Twinomujuni.
The roads proposed for upgrade include Kiranzi–Kinyakairu–Kiryanga–Nguse–Kakiindo, covering about 29.4 kilometres; Kyanaisoke–Mugalike–Kibwera, covering 46.8 kilometres; and Kiryani–Ruteete–Kisuura–Kobushera–Kamalebe–Kitebere, covering 43.6 kilometres.
Others are Mabaale–Kyadyoko–Kimaanya–Kabamba–Kasimbi, covering 27.9 kilometres; Muhorro–Kabuga–Mambugu, covering 22 kilometres; and Ruteete–Kinyarwanda–Bweranyange Road.
Speaking during the session, Speaker Vincent Semuga said upgrading the roads will improve transport and support economic activities in the district.
The council also approved the Kagadi Hospital Management Board presented by LC5 Chairperson Elly Gurd Tumusiime.
The board will be chaired by Magezi F. Ibrahim, alongside Sheikh Muhammad Isingoma and Keiza Ainomugisha as members.
Other issues discussed included the five-year District Forestry Development Plan and the three-year District Academic Performance Strategic Plan.
The council session was attended by Buyaga West MP Denis Namara Bindeba, Kagadi District Woman MP Margret Nanzziwa Rujumba, LC3 chairpersons, religious leaders and other development partners.
