Kagadi

The Kagadi deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Jerome Namanya has directed striking teachers to return to class to allow for meaningful negotiations with government on their salary enhancement.

Speaking to Paradigm FM recently, Namanya appealed to the teachers to resume work to avoid wasting valuable time as learners prepare for their upcoming transitional and national examinations.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb), the national exams will begin on October 10.

The deputy RDC calls on teachers to return to classrooms and help learners to pass their exams as they hold meaningful negotiations with government on salary enhancements.

He also rallies all stakeholders to take a role in holding negotiations with teachers to convince them to return to work.

Namanya expresses fear that many children might dropout out of school in the aftermath of the teachers’ strike like it happened during the recent covid-19 induced lock-down.
