Kagadi
As the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA)’s mass enrollment and renewal exercise draws to a close at the Sub-County level, hundreds of residents continue to flock to the registration points in Kagadi District.
According to Denis Aheebwa, the Kagadi district Registration Assistant, the number of residents turning up for registration has significantly increased as the deadline remains with eight days.
However, Aheebwa expressed concern over limited equipment and other logistics, posing significant challenges in handling large masses at registration centers.
He says since the inception of the exercise on May,27th,they have so far registered 150,000 applicants and the first batch of 12,000 new IDs have been dispatched by NIRA and are ready for picking.
Aheebwa also urges residents who have already renewed their National Identification Cards (IDs) and received confirmation messages from NIRA to collect them from the registration centres.
He encourages residents across the district to make use of the remaining days to register or renew their IDs to avoid missing out on essential government services.
