Kagadi
Kagadi Resident District Commissioner Caroline Nanshemeza has attributed the rising cases of crime in the district to alleged collusion between some security personnel and politicians.
Nanshemeza made the remarks during a security meeting held at a hotel owned by Buyaga East Member of Parliament Steven Twesige Rurekere in Kitoonzi Cell, Kagadi Town Council.
The meeting was attended by CP Hillary Kuraigye, who represented IGP Abbas Byakagaba, Albertine South Regional Police Commander SSP Frantile Lwamussayi, district security officials, LC-three chairpersons and sub-county Internal Security Officers.
Nanshemeza criticised the district police for organising the meeting at the hotel owned by the area Member of Parliament, describing the arrangement as a sign of alleged collusion between politicians and security personnel that she said undermines efforts to fight crime.
She argued that the meeting should instead have been organised as a community baraza at one of the sub-county headquarters to allow residents to raise their concerns and propose solutions to the persistent theft of coffee and livestock.
The RDC also accused some security personnel of neglecting their duties despite receiving salaries and allowances.
She urged the security personnel to repent and change their ways, saying divine intervention might be needed to address the situation.
