Minister Byamukama Distributes Coffee Seedlings, Pigs to Kakumiro Residents

Minister of Works and Transport and Bugangaizi West Member of Parliament, Fred Byamukama, has distributed coffee seedlings and piglets to residents of Kakumiro District to improve household incomes.

Byamukama handed over the farm inputs to beneficiaries at a function held at Kikwaya Primary School playground in Kikwaya Sub-county.

A total of 240,000 coffee seedlings and 250 pigs have been distributed.

Byamukama said the initiative is part of the four-acre model village programme previously launched by President Yoweri Museveni.

He has urged beneficiaries to take good care of the coffee seedlings and pigs, saying they can generate wealth in a relatively short time.

Byamukama has also discouraged farmers in the greater Kibaale area from growing sugarcane on small pieces of land, saying the crop is more suitable for farmers with large chunks of land.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries, including women leaders, youth and other residents, have thanked Byamukama for supporting their efforts to improve household incomes.
