Former Buyaga West MP Barnabas Tinkasiimire has criticized the Patriotic League of Uganda’s campaign to endorse Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for president in 2031, describing it as illegal.
The remarks come a day after PLU launched its endorsement drive in Kagadi District at the Kagadi Freedom Tree.
Speaking to Paradigm FM, Tinkasiimire said the activities by Gen. Muhoozi and PLU are contrary to Uganda’s Constitution.
He argued that serving military officers are not supposed to engage in political activities.
Tinkasiimire says Gen. Muhoozi should first resign from the military if he wants to actively participate in politics.
He also distanced himself from the endorsement campaign, saying he would not take part in what he described as a bad campaign.
