Kagadi
The Kagadi District Electoral Commission has concluded Local Council Two (LC2) elections across the district, with most candidates declared winners unopposed.
The Kagadi Town Council Electoral Supervisor, Swahibu Kagadisa, says many candidates went through unopposed after the National Resistance Movement (NRM) adopted consensus following its party primaries.
In Kagadi Town Council, Sekanjako Livingstone of the NRM was declared unopposed in Kagadi Central Ward, while Magambo Jackson in Kiraba Ward, Mugabi Bob Robert in Kibanga Ward, and Byakagaba Kyamiza in Kitegwa Ward also won without contest.
However, voting was held in two wards. In Kyamukama Ward, Muhumuza James won the LC2 chairperson seat with 38 votes, defeating Kyaligonza John who got 29 votes.
In Mambugu Ward, Mutabazi Christopher of the NRM won with 21 votes against Mugisa Vincent, who polled 20 votes.
Kagadisa has called on residents to unite and return to their normal activities following the completion of the elections.
The newly elected LC2 chairpersons, Muhumuza James and Christopher Mutabazi, have thanked voters for their support and pledged to work with their executive committees and LC1 leaders to improve service delivery.
