Kagadi
Residents of Kagadi District have been urged to remain vigilant to prevent the spread of Ebola within the district.
The call was made on Friday 22nd by Ms. Nanshemeza Caroline, the Resident District Commissioner for Kagadi District, during an exclusive interview with Paradigm FM News reporters at her office in Kagadi Town Council.
Nanshemeza noted that since Uganda has already registered Ebola cases, there is a need for heightened alertness and strict adherence to standard operating procedures, including regular handwashing with soap and maintaining physical distance.
She further called on parents and teachers to work together in sensitizing school-going children about Ebola to increase awareness and help prevent its spread in schools.
The RDC also revealed that border points between Kagadi District and the Democratic Republic of Congo have been reinforced with security personnel to ensure compliance with SOPs and to reduce the risk of cross-border transmission from travellers coming from Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Nanshemeza further appealed to leaders in places of worship to ensure that all religious gatherings strictly observe the recommended SOPs.
