Kagadi District Councillor for Kabamba Sub- County, Magezi Jamada, has won the NRM flag bearer race for the Speakership of Kagadi District Council after securing 28 votes.
The race attracted three candidates: Magezi Jamada, councillor for Kabamba Sub-county; Ssemuga Vincent, the Workers Representative Councillor-elect; and Gahima Gard, councillor for Ruteete Town Council.
The election was held at JW Kate Hotel in Kagadi Town Council.
While announcing the results, Kagadi District NRM Registrar Patrick Mbasiima said Jamada polled 28 votes, Ssemuga got 21 votes, while Gahima received 4 votes.
In his victory speech, Jamada thanked delegates for trusting him and called upon his fellow contestants to work together for the unity and strength of the NRM party.
Speaking after the election, Ssemuga Vincent said he was not satisfied with the outcome and revealed that he was consulting with his supporters on the next course of action.
Meanwhile, Gahima Gard accepted the results and pledged support for the party’s chosen flag bearer, saying he was ready to support any candidate endorsed by the NRM.
Kagadi District is expected to hold the general election for the District Council Speaker tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, at the district headquarters after the swearing-in ceremony of the LC5 Chairperson and councillors.
