Kagadi
Kagadi district councillors have rejected to approve the appointment of new members that would fill the vacant positions on the Kagadi district land board and Kagadi hospital management board.
The position of the chairperson of Kagadi hospital management board remained vacant after the dismissal of Pastor Magezi F Ibrahim where as Kagadi district land board also fall vacant following the death of the former chairperson Mugisa Samuel alias Cuba.
Kagadi LC5 chairman Yosia Ndibwami had nominated Magezi Muwonge the outgoing district speaker to become the chairperson Kagadi hospital management board, Peter Ziraba and Asiimwe Reya both outgoing councillors as members to the hospital management board.
Ndibwami had also nominated Peter Mutambuze to become the chairperson district land board, and outgoing district councillor for Kagadi town council George William Tumusiime as member to the land board.
The council meeting that was held at JW Kate hotel in Kagadi town council was filled with tension after councillors protested to approve the nominees.
They cited the smuggling of the names to the order paper and hidden political interests of the nominees who were all voted out together with their principal Yosia Ndibwami in the recent elections.
Councillors also questioned the motive behind the immediate delegation of duty by speaker Magezi Muwonge to his deputy Amos Ssebuliba in the middle of the session to pave way for the speaker’s appointment to the Hospital Management board which other councillors observed as move to fulfil the broader political interests of the outgoing political administration.
Meanwhile the Kagadi district Lc5 chairperson elect Elly Guard Tumusiime said the outgoing administration had deliberately attempted to appoint members on boards and commissions from rival camp to fail his leadership.
He commended councillors for being steadfast and rejecting the approval of the nominees to the boards.
