Kagadi
The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has officially launched the distribution of National Identity Cards in Kagadi District.
Speaking to Paradigm FM on Thursday at Kagadi Town Council headquarters, the NIRA officer in charge of Kagadi District, Tom Ambrose Musinguzi, confirmed that all National IDs have been delivered and are ready for collection.
Musinguzi explained that the current exercise is strictly focused on the distribution of IDs. He noted that priority will be given to individuals who successfully completed registration and received two confirmation messages from NIRA.
The first message confirms completion of the ID processing, while the second notifies applicants of their designated collection point at the Kagadi Town NIRA offices.
He added that the exercise will run for seven days at the district headquarters, after which any uncollected IDs will be transferred to respective sub-county offices. Musinguzi urged residents to turn up in large numbers to pick up their National Identity Cards within the stipulated period.
Some residents who have already received their IDs expressed gratitude, describing the process as smooth and well-organized, especially due to the SMS notifications guiding them on collection.
Others noted that the lack of National IDs had previously hindered their access to essential services and government programs, but said they are now relieved to finally have the documents.
