The chairperson Lc3 Mpeefu ya Sande town council Robert Nkwansibwe Birahuri says that he will not stand as an independent candidate in the 2026 polls after losing in the  recent NRM primaries.

Nkwansibwe lost the NRM party flag to Robert Ahaisibwe speaker Mpeefu ya Sande town council with a big margin.Nkwasiibwe garnered 1547 votes constituting 29.3% against his rival’s 3735 votes translating into 70.7%.

In an interview with Paradigm FM this afternoon, Nkwasiibwe said that since he lost in the primaries this year, he will respect the National Resistance Movement – NRM party constitution not to make an attempt of competing on an independent ticket in the 2026 elections.

He said that since he is a senior cadre and long term serving NRM party member, he chose to stay out of the race to encourage other young party members and cadres to respect the party constitution.

Birahuri encourages both teams to embrace peaceful co-existence for the good of the party and development of their area.

He also thanked his supporters for voting him despite losing the election.

Meanwhile, the Kyangwali Sub County LC3 Chairperson Emmanuel Bisemeza has vowed to continue fighting land grabbers if re-elected for another term. 

Bisemeza won the NRM flag for Kyangwali Sub County LC3 position with 93.8% of the votes on August 14, 2025.

He credited his past achievements to collaborative efforts with other leaders, which resulted in no land evictions in Kyangwali Sub County during his term.

Bisemeza also highlighted road and water source rehabilitation as key accomplishments during this ending term of office.
