Lower local government leaders in Kagadi district have been tasked to intensify efforts in collecting local revenues to fund development projects and reduce reliance on central government transfers.
The call was made by the Kagadi district deputy CAO Vincent Kyaligonza during a revenue mobilization meeting held in the district council hall last evening.
The meeting was attended by the local council three chairpersons, town clerks, Sub-county chiefs and sub-accountants from all the 35 administrative units of Kagadi district.
Chairing the meeting, the deputy CAO said that reports for the first quarter of this 2025/26FY reveal a poor performance and sharp decline in revenue collections.
Kyaligonza called for mobilization of the residents and the business community to pay taxes to increase on the local raised revenue.

The Kagadi RDC Caroline Nanshemeza called for hard work and teamwork spirit among the political leaders and accounting officers to boost revenue collection.

Speaking to Paradigm FM, John Isingoma the town clerk Kagadi town council and Godfrey Nangonza mayor Muhorro town council promised to enhance their efforts in raising revenue. They however asked the public to voluntarily pay taxes to improve service delivery.
