Stakeholders in Kagadi District held a micro-planning meeting ahead of the measles-rubella mass vaccination campaign.
The meeting was held on Thursday at the district boardroom and attended by the Resident District Commissioner, Caroline Nanshemeza, District Health Officer, District Inspector of Schools Julius Alinda, and district vice chairperson John Alibankoha, among other stakeholders.
According to Senior Health Educator Hajjat Aisha Tumwebaze, the vaccination exercise will run from October 1st to 5th, 2026.
The campaign will target children aged between nine months and five years, both in and out of school.
Tumwebaze has urged parents to prepare their children for vaccination and called on all stakeholders to work together to ensure the campaign is successful.
The campaign was initially scheduled for April this year but was later postponed.
The vaccination drive comes after a measles outbreak in Kagadi District earlier this year. In March, the district health department reported five deaths linked to the outbreak.
The affected areas included Kyakabadima, Kyaterekera and Ndaiga sub-counties, with children aged between one and five years the most affected.
