The Kagadi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Caroline Nanshemeza, has urged Christians to embrace government programs aimed at improving livelihoods and alleviating poverty.
Nanshemeza made the remarks during a thanksgiving and fundraising ceremony held at Kagadi United Pentecostal Church in Kagadi Town Council, last evening.
She says government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, Youth Livelihood Fund, and others were introduced by the government to empower citizens economically and help them move out of poverty citing the need to embrace them.
The RDC also emphasizes the importance of hard work among Christians, saying that when believers are economically empowered, it contributes to the growth and development of the church.
She further urged pastors and church leaders to lead by example, warning them against engaging in activities that could tarnish the name of God.
Meanwhile, speaking after the service, Rev.Kwariija Innocent, the host of the event, thanked all those who attended the thanksgiving and fundraising ceremony, saying their support had helped move the church closer to completing its construction project.
The fundraising event raised Two Million,Three hundred eight thousand shillings (UGX2,308,000) towards the church construction, with an additional 23 million shillings still needed to complete the project.
